This would be the roleplaying journal of Wuya from Xiaolin Showdown for the mixedupnyxfiles RP.

Character History

Trapped for over 1500 years, Wuya was release when Jack Spicer solved and opened her magical prison: a small Chinese puzzle-box Jack received from his father in Hong Kong. Serving as Jack's mentor for a time, Wuya grew increasingly irate at his failing attempts to defeat the Xiaolin Warriors and claim the magical Shen Gong Wu objects which would allow her to conquer the world. Wuya betrayed him upon finding the Heart of Jong, which was used to form the unstoppable demon warrior Mala Mala Jong.

Upon Jong's defeat, Wuya tried to return to Jack. However, Jack was still spiteful and turned her down. Wuya then attempted to recruit the frustrated and impatient Raimundo, promising him a quicker more rewarding way to glory. Taking up on her offer, Raimundo stole the Reversing Mirror and Serpent's Tail in order to return Wuya to her human form.

After her betrayal at the hands of Raimundo, Wuya was returned back to her ghostly form once again. Since then Wuya has gone back to Jack, turned herself into a giant Shen Gong Wu monster using Raimundo, sided with a new villain Chase Young, returned to her human form (albeit without her original powers), teamed up with Hannibal Roy Bean (another new villain) and used Jack Spicer and Cyclops as henchmen at times.

Character Personality

Wuya combines the wickedness of a witch with the conniving mind of a masterminded criminal. She knows how to get what she wants (going as far as feigning a romantic interest in her fellow cohort, Chase Young) and seems almost willing to ally herself with anyone including angsty teenagers and talking vegetables.

Outfit

Wuya in her human form generally wears a short black dress with a purple outline at the sleeves and the bottom. Briefly in "Days Past," Wuya wore the outfit of Penelope Pitstop, a ditzy female cartoon character from the 60's who drove a red sports car, just as the one Wuya created for Raimundo. In "Treasure of the Blind Swordsman" Wuya wore a flairy black cowboy outfit and hat (with red fire on the sleeves and at the bottom of her pants). In Raimundo's dream sequence in "The Dream Stalker," she was wearing a pink kimono almost identical to the one Kimiko had been wearing prior to her appearance. The 'Good Wuya' featured in The Life and Times of Hannibal Roy Bean wears a white dress instead of a black one, and in Time after Time for a brief moment she is dressed as a cheerleader.

Relationships

Wuya seems to serve as a sort of mother figure to Jack Spicer. She also seemed to act like a devil-conscience or big sister to Raimundo for the few episodes they were allied in. She banters with Dojo at times, though generally disregards his exsistence. She seems to have a sort of mutual respect with the ancient monk Dashi who imprisoned her. She does not seem to regard any of the other monks in any way. (Though Kimiko appears to think of her as a rival). Wuya also serves as a type of roommate and moll to Chase Young, who both live together in Chase's citadel. Many rumors have been said to a relationship between Wuya and Chase, but evidence of this is intepretation at best.

Visual Influences

Wuya locating the mystical Shen Gong Wu object The Reversing Mirror.Wuya bears a striking resemblance to her voice actress Susan Silo. Mainly her auburn hair and mannerisms. She also bears a small resemblance to the Batman villain Poison Ivy with her long red hair and green eyes. She also resembles a crow (her fanning hair loosely resembles wings, and her eyes are very bird-like) which is what Wuya translates to. Wuya also has some very animalistic features, including large claw-like hands and fangs. While in the first episode, Wuya was seen with purple hair. In all of her later appearances Wuya has red hair.

Wuya's ghost form looks very similar to an octupus with many tentacle-like tendrils emerging from her hair. She also is constantly wearing a mask in this form. In the first episode this mask does not move, but in later appearances it appears to physically move like a face. Her ghost form also has large fang-like teeth inside the mask in later appearances. She flashes and sparks when a Shen Gong Wu is located or when she is feeling very strong emotionally. She is also able to read minds in this form by entering her targeted mind's ear.

In "The Journey of a Thousand Miles" Wuya's ghost-form is slighlty different from how it appears during the rest of the series. For one thing, her mask cannot move, (it seems to act like a face during her other appearences). She is also larger in this appearence, likely to make her figure more intimidating to the audience. (She also changes size during various intervals for the rest of the series. Though those changes are not as drastic as the one depicted here).

Voice

Susan Silo has done the voice of Wuya for the character's entire existence. An echo effect is added to Susan's voice while she performs Wuya in her ghost form. Susan also uses a higher more raspy voice for this form as well.

Name Translation

Wuya's name translates into Crow, which matches her personality and character design quite well.

Powers & Abilities

Wuya has several forms, each of them with different levels of power. Her original ghost form can pass through anything, and while intangible, can still somehow smell, be blown away, and be splashed by water. Her ghost form can detect when Shen Gong Wu have been activated, can creative extensive illusions and can enter people's minds to read them. Her human form normally has many abilities, she is largely invulnerable and can cast green energy bolts. She is also able to summon large pillars of stone, including giant rock monsters. Her current form no longer has these powers, but instead has super-strength as well as super-speed, and she is capable of turning her kisses into energy projectiles.

Arguably Wuya's greatest power however, is her "female willies," (as Omi refers to them). It is through her own guile that she convinced many of her allies to join her, (Chase Young and Raimundo, mostly). She also uses these 'abilities' to lull enemies into a false sense of security (such as with Clay in "The Life and Times of Hannibal Roy Bean"), or cause them to become enraged and careless, (such as with Kimiko in the same episode).

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
In the episode "Time After Time," both Wuyas (Past and Present) have vastly different powers and potential from what has been seen before. The fully-powered Wuya seen at the beginning appears to no longer be able to fly, and cannot fire the energy projectiles that were seen in "Citadel of Doom." She also does not have the giant fortress from the same episode. Whereas the Wuya seen later in the episode has many more abilities than she had for the rest of Season 3. These include flight, the ability to bring statues to life and increased strength. Though it is likely that these powers were a result of Guan restoring her to physical form, as opposed to Chase Young.

Personality: Even though Wuya puts on a tough girl act around everyone she meets, In all honesty she'd like nothing more to have a little peace and quiet afterall She was surrounded by idiots back home and aboard the Nyx there seems to be nothing but trouble - Ever since she came abord The Nyx she's been doubting herself and her alliance, She enjoys making certain people suffer and it's also fun to annoy them too, Especcially if they happen to be the boyfriend of a certain Saxophone player. Wuya has strong feelings towards Nicholas D Wolfwood and would more than likely snap and lash out at everyone if any harm would ever come to him. She currently seeks a way to be happy with him whilst trying to fight her own personal inner demons.

Personality: Though Wuya is quite powerful and more than willing to stand her ground if trouble arises, Wuya's actually quite friendly if not a little confused about modern day life often making her come across as a ditz to those who don't know her very well. She has trouble adjusting sometimes and yet she's still able to make friends and enemies as easy as snapping your fingers. Overwhelmed by this new world around her luckily Wuya has found solace with her friends and a unexpected personal relationship with Midvalley. Although years ago she had very strong feelings towards Bakura she finds now it's hard to even remotley get close to him even as a friend and so she and him spend most of the time fighting like cat and dog over the most pitiful of things...It's a good job Ryou's usually around to seperate the two or to act as the voice of reason if trouble does arise...Living with three males who all have some kind of relationship with her and being a 15,00 year old Heylin Witch is never easy but then again life with Wuya never is!
